According to a survey published in 2020, Facebook was the most popular social media among Italians to follow museums, galleries, and similar cultural institutions online. Moreover, this platform was more popular among female respondents than male ones. About 65 percent of women respondents claimed to use Facebook to check the online content published by museums, whereas 56 percent of men did the same. On the other hand, YouTube was slightly more popular among men.
