Gross government expenses on the Dutch Health Insurance Act (Zvw) 2008-2020
This statistic shows the gross government expenses on the Dutch Health Insurance Act (Zvw) from 2008 to 2020 (in million euros). In 2020, the Dutch government expects to spend a gross sum of approximately 51 billion euros on the Dutch Health Insurance Act. This is an increase from the roughly 49 billion euros reached in 2018. In the Netherlands, every resident or employee is obliged to take a basic health insurance to cover medical costs from, for example, visits to a general practitioner or the hospital. The Dutch government decides on the cover provided by this package and health insurance companies are obliged to accept everyone who meets the requirements, regardless of age or state of health.
