GHG emissions reduction targets in France 2050
France reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by roughly 24 percent between 1990 and 2021. The country had previously set the target of cutting GHG emissions by 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, but in May 2023, the French government unveiled a more ambitious plan to cut emissions by 50 percent by 2030. This will bring France's ambitions in line with the EU's emissions reduction target for 2030.
