In 2020, the salary gap between men and women in France was approximately 17 percent. Historically, French men always earned more than French women however, throughout the years the income gap considerably reduced. For instance, in 1958 men earned around 59 percent more than women, then 20 years later the gap decreased to 43 percent, and in 1998 the difference of salaries dropped to 26 percent.
