Quarterly CET1 of banking industry in EU 2015-2023, by country
After a period of decreasing CET1 ratio in the first half of 2022 caused by the weak economic conditions due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the EU sanctions against Russia, the CET1 ratio increased in all observed countries in the last quarter of 2022. Out of the leading EU member states, Netherlands' banking industry had the highest common equity tier 1 (CET1) ratio between 2016 and 2023. As of the third quarter of 2023, it stood at around 12 percent, a slight increase compared to the previous quarters.
