Carbon dioxide emissions in the United Kingdom 1990 -2022, by sector
Carbon dioxide emissions from UK domestic transportation increased by roughly two percent in 2022, to 110.6 million metric tons (MtCO₂e). This increase is mostly attributable to emissions continuing to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused transportation emissions to plummet by almost 20 percent in 2020. Since 1990, UK domestic transportation emissions have fallen by roughly 13 percent. By comparison, emissions from electricity generation have been reduced by more than 70 percent.
