In the European area of German-speaking countries, the attitude towards sustainable online shopping is quite diversified, as a survey from 2021 showed. While about one in two consumers would not mind sending back reusable packaging used for their parcels, the purchase of B-ware, for instance, functioning products with minor esthetical defects, was more accepted in Germany and Austria (42 percent) than in Switzerland (32 percent). In turn, Swiss online shoppers seemed willing to compensate for the CO2 emissions of their online orders more than their German or Austrian neighbors (16 percent each). Austrian online shoppers seemed the least impatient to receive their packages, as 48 percent of them would accept longer timing for delivery.
