Total consumption of natural gas in Africa 2021, by country
As of 2021, the total consumption of natural gas in Africa amounted to roughly 5,185 billion cubic feet. Egypt and Algeria were by far the largest natural gas consumers on the continent, with over 2,116 billion cubic feet and 1,664 billion cubic feet, respectively. This represented a huge part of the consumption in the continent at 37.33 percent and 29.2 percent, respectively. Nigeria followed, consuming approximately 13.7 percent of the total African consumption.
