Leading causes of pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S. 2017-2019, by ethnicity
From 2017 to 2019, the leading causes of pregnancy-related deaths was different for different race and ethnicity. Mental health conditions was the leading cause of maternal mortality among Hispanic and Non-Hispanic White women. On the other hand, Non-Hispanic Black women mostly died from cardiac and coronary conditions, while Non-Hispanic Asian women from a hemorrhage. This statistic shows the percentage of pregnancy-related deaths in 36 U.S. states from 2017 to 2019, by underlying cause and ethnicity.
