This statistic displays the percentage of U.S. adults not taking medication as prescribed within the preceding 12 months to lower costs, in 2013, by age and poverty level. During that year, 15.5 percent of adults 65 years of age and over who asked the doctor for a lower-cost medication had incomes below 139 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL).
