Androgen replacement therapy for men in the United States 2001-2011
This statistic depicts the percentage of men given androgen replacement therapy (ART) in the United States between 2001 and 2011. In 2009, 2.23 percent of men in the U.S. aged 40 years and over were given ART. Commercial ART sales have been increasing steadily since 2001. ART is also referred to as testosterone replacement therapy. It is often used to minimize the effects of aging in males. ART can be especially useful for men with hypogonadism, where the body is unable to produce normal testosterone amounts. ART has also been used for women.
