Purchasing on the internet among French
According to the yearly review of French e-commerce federation FEVAD, the retail sales revenue of e-commerce in France amounted to 81.7 billion euros in 2017. Moreover, in a survey conducted among French consumers, it appears that 37 percent of the respondents stated buying online at least once a month. According to the results of Statista’s Global Consumer Survey in 2019, the most purchased type of product were clothing and cultural goods (books, movies, music etc.), as well as consumer electronic products.
Growth of the m-commerce
Within the practice of carrying out purchases on the Internet, it seems that using a mobile device to do so is spreading: from 2013 to 2018, the share of e-buyers purchasing via smartphone increased from 10 up to 39 percent of respondents. The mobile e-commerce (m-commerce) represented 21 percent of the total turnover of e-commerce and amounted to about 16 billion euros in 2017.
