Number of sterilizations in Finland 1990-2022, by gender

While the number of female sterilizations declined drastically over the observed period from 1990 to 2022, male sterilizations increased slightly. The number of female sterilizations peaked at 12,864 in 1990, whereas, in 2022, 853 sterilizations on females were performed. The number of male sterilizations stayed mostly below 2,000 until 2012. In 2022, the number of male sterilizations amounted to 2,066.
