Share of workers in the GCC 2017-2022, by nationality
In 2022, nearly 77 percent of workers in the Gulf Cooperation Council were local citizens, while the remaining 23 percent were foreign nationals. Although the ratio of local citizens was marginally higher over the previous year, it was nevertheless a drop from the peak of 80 percent in 2017. Between 2017 and 2022 the ratio of local citizen workers to foreign national workers in the GCC hovered roughly around eight to two.
