Repeat buyer mortgage loans Ireland 2017-2022, by interest rate
The vast majority of mortgages for second and subsequent homebuyers in Ireland in 2022 had a fixed rate. The share of loans with a variable interest rate was approximately 6.5 percent - a substantial decrease from 2017, when about 42 percent of new loans had a variable interest rate. Meanwhile, first-time buyers had a slightly higher share of fixed rate mortgages.
