This was the highest expenditure made by local authorities that year. Spending on social protection amounted to over 14.4 billion Israeli shekels (roughly 3.8 billion U.S. dollars). The sector in which local authorities spent the least was health. Only 267 million Israeli shekels (about 71.4 U.S. dollars) were spent in this area.
