In 2021, the central government's expenditure on budgetary central government ministries in Israel amounted to over 521 billion Israeli shekels (roughly 140 billion U.S. dollars). This was the highest expense made by the central government in that year. The expenditure on public non-profit institutions amounted to about 113 billion Israeli shekels (roughly 30 billion U.S. dollars). The least spent on sector by the central government were the national institutions with an expenditure of just over 2.6 billion Israeli shekels (just under 700 million U.S. dollars).
