Payment card penetration rate in North Africa 2017-2021, by country
In 2021, the payment card penetration rate in Morocco stood at 32 percent, while Algeria had a penetration rate of 24 percent. These countries had the highest share of the population owning a debit or a credit card in Northern Africa that year. Morocco recorded the largest increase in the region compared to 2017.
