Among the largest foreign companies that suspended operations in Russia over its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, food industry businesses employed the most people, at 136 thousand. Furthermore, automotive companies that temporarily limited operations or permanently left the Russian market were reported to have 60 thousand employees in the country.
