Share of app spending in Australia 2020-2021, by platform
In the second quarter of 2021, iOS users in Australia generated more than 70 percent of the total consumer spending on mobile apps for the quarter. By comparison, apps downloaded from the Google Play Store generated approximately 29 percent of the total spending. Between the start of 2020 and the first half of 2021, consumer spending generated via iOS made up the largest share of app spending for Australian consumers in all the examined quarters. Mobile gaming apps were the highest-grossing category in the examined period (INSERT 1282452), reaching the peak of 956.5 million U.S. dollars in consumer spending during the third quarter of 2020.
