Gender parity score in Tanzania as of 2019, by dimension
As of 2019, the Gender Parity Score (GPS) revealed a high gap between men and women in Tanzania, both in society and at work. The overall GPS in the country stood at 0.62 points, a result that indicated high gender inequality. A GPS score one indicates total parity between men and women - the nearer to one, the nearer to closing the gender gap. Although both gender inequality at work and in society were considered high in Tanzania, the performance on society dimension was better, at 0.70 points. This meant that women had 70 percent of the opportunities that men did. In the work dimension, the country scored 0.50 points.
