Female child labor in Sub-Saharan Africa 2021, by age
Girls are more likely to work during their childhood and teenagehood than boys. Worldwide, 7.8 percent of girls aged five to 17 years are working. No region in the world has so many working children as Sub-Saharan Africa. This percentage is particularly high among the youngest age groups. As of 2021, 22.3 percent of female children aged five to 11 years living in Sub-Saharan Africa were victims of child labor.
