In 2017, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had the highest share of bank account owners at about 88 percent of the adult population. The average share of bank account owners in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region was about 49 percent. Countries in conflict and in transition showed smaller employment growth than the rest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
