Share of consumers who attempted to go cashless in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan 2021
A survey conducted in July 2021 reported that 48 percent of respondents in Taiwan and 69 percent in Hong Kong attempted to forgo cash payments at some point. Nearly half of the surveyed consumers living in Macao also reported having tried to go cashless. According to the source, most managed at least a few days without cash, with one out of four saying they lasted more than a week.
