Percent change in jail admissions due to COVID-19 by jurisdiction size U.S. 2019-2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, jail jurisdictions with less than 50 inmates in the United States experienced a decrease in admissions of 22.3 percent between 2019 and 2020. In comparison, jail admissions decreased by 5.7 percent for jail jurisdictions with 50 to 99 inmates.
