Government integrity sub-score of South Africa 2000-2020
In 2020, the government integrity sub-score on the Economic Freedom Index for South Africa was 46.6. This represented an increase of 6.9 points from 2019. Throughout the period under investigation, the South African value exceeded the African average. Moreover, in comparison to the world average, the sub-score was higher throughout the period examined except in two years, namely 2015 and 2019. According to the index, government integrity in South Africa was considered "repressed" since 2010.
