Investment freedom sub-score of Egypt on the Economic Freedom Index 2000-2020
As of 2020, the investment freedom sub-score on the Economic Freedom Index for Egypt was 60. This was the same score since 2018. Between 2000 and 2020, the sub-score ranged between 45 points in 2014 and 65 points in 2012. The value was lower than the continent average only in 2002 and 2014. In comparison to the world average, the Egyptian sub-score was higher in 2005, 2007, 2009 to 2012, and between 2018 and 2020. According to the index, the investment freedom in Egypt was considered "moderately free" since 2018.
