Iron and steel transport volume of cargo ships in Japan in FY 2012-2021
In the fiscal year 2021, around 36.08 million tons of iron and steel were transported via coastwise shipping in Japan, accounting for the largest freight volume among the principal commodities transported by cargo ships. After motor vehicles, cargo ships are the second most important means of Japan's freight transportation.
