New American Economy has released its second annual Cities Index which measures how effectively U.S. cities are integrating immigrants. It systematically evaluates integration by measuring local policies and socioeconomic outcomes, determining a score between one and five where five is the highest level of integration.
This year, Chicago ranks first with a score of 4.38, followed by Chula Vista, CA, Jersey City, NJ, and San Francisco, CA. The index found that cities in the Midwest are making the biggest strides with Cleveland, OH, Milwaukee, WI, and Toledo, OH among the top-10 cities who saw their scores improve the most over the past year.
